Lamier des Renards 2021

The Champagne Lamier des Renards by Alexandre Chaillon tells the soul of a single terroir from the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, where the Les Renards de Pierry parcel (lieu-dit), in the Premier Cru village of Pierry, rests on chalky and limestone soils formed during the Campanian period. The philosophy guiding this wine looks to a respectful and sustainable agriculture, able to preserve the vitality of the soil through viticulture carried out without herbicides, insecticides or synthetic pesticides.

This edition, Vintage 2021, shows a predominance of Pinot Noir grapes at 75%, joined by 25% Meunier, with vinification and maturation carried out in tonneaux of 228 and 300 litres, where the wine rests for eleven months on its own fine lees, refining volume and complexity. After the tirage comes a long ageing of 40 months on the lees, while the final dosage of 1 g/l, in Extra Brut style, defines a profile of rare precision.

On the tasting, Lamier des Renards 2021 reveals itself intense and taut, with a vibrant, vertical attack that immediately highlights a marked savouriness and a saline note of great character and definition. On the palate the balance is built on tension and freshness, sustained by a slender, mineral structure of great energy, carrying through a long progression toward a finish of remarkable, deep persistence, clarity and extraordinary aromatic coherence. Production in a limited run of 714 bottles.
