The Champagne Le Léon by Philipponnat is part of a parcel cuvée trilogy (lieu-dit) coming from the vintage 2014. It is located in Le Léon, between Ay and Dizy, since Philipponat has owned vineyards there since 1522. Together with Clos des Goisses, this parcel is Philipponat's cradle. It is 100% Pinot Noir coming exclusively from «Le Léon», in Ay. This Champagne has an Extra Brut dosage (4,5 g/l) and a perfect balance between freshness and vinousity, as well as pureness. It rests for at least 7 years in the Maison cave, under stable temperature (12°C) to get the best complexity possible and exalt the secondary aromas - the result of a long resting on yeasts.

Champagne Philipponnat

In the heart of Premier and Grand Cru, the maison is proud of its own 20 hectares out of the most beautiful vineyards of Pinot Noir over the territory of Mareuil, Aÿ, Mutigny e Avenay, facing south and lying on pure chalk, as well as the old and renowed vines of Clos des Goisses and Lèon. Vinification follows the most natural methods and the fermentation temperatures are fresh, not too cold, so as to preserve the natural aromatic taste of the wine. The malolactic fermentation is brought the its end, except for the stongest wines, such as the Clos des Goisses. Dorages are on average particularly low, so sugar cannot disguise the balance between freshness and vinousity.
