Clos de Goisses 2014

Clos des Goisses is a unique vineyard, recognisable among them all for its very steep slope. This 5.5-hectare plot is the oldest clos (walled vineyard) in the Champagne region and, above all, the steepest. Its 45° slope explains the origin of its name: in old local dialect, "gois" means a hill with a very steep side. Perfectly exposed to the south, it occupies the best côteau (hillside) in Mareuil-sur-Ay, on exceptional chalk soil.

The Champagne Clos de Goisses 2014 is a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay, with 62% vinification in wood, maturing for over 8 years on its own yeasts and a dosage 4,5 g/l - making it an Extra Brut.

In the heart of Premier and Grand Cru, the maison is proud of its own 20 hectares out of the most beautiful vineyards of Pinot Noir over the territory of Mareuil, Aÿ, Mutigny e Avenay, facing south and lying on pure chalk, as well as the old and renowed vines of Clos des Goisses and Lèon. Vinification follows the most natural methods and the fermentation temperatures are fresh, not too cold, so as to preserve the natural aromatic taste of the wine. The malolactic fermentation is brought the its end, except for the stongest wines, such as the Clos des Goisses. Dorages are on average particularly low, so sugar cannot disguise the balance between freshness and vinousity.
