Champagne Voirin-Jumel
La V.1
The Champagne La V.1 by Voirin-Jumel is the calling card of the Cramant house, a multi-parcel cuvée that spans the chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs and tells the story of the Voirin and Jumel families. The philosophy is that of an approachable Blanc de Blancs, conceived as a gateway to the Domaine’s Chardonnay. It conveys the finesse of the Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Chouilly through a constant dialogue between Champagne tradition and the pursuit of aromatic balance.
This edition, from the 2022 harvest, is enriched by around 40% réserve perpétuelle, which brings depth, stylistic continuity and a complexity that reaches beyond a single year. Vinification and fermentation take place in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation completed, to preserve the clarity of the fruit and the chalky imprint of the soils. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for around 42 months, while the final dosage of 5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, gently supports the natural freshness of Chardonnay without altering its precision.
On tasting, La V.1 shows a luminous golden-yellow colour, with a very fine, persistent perlage that leads into an expressive, juicy mouthfeel. On the palate a harmonious structure emerges, where notes of ripe pear, citrus and white flowers mingle with a buttery thread, supported by well-balanced acidity that brings drive and drinkability. The finish is elegant and penetrating, with a chalky minerality that builds with every sip and leaves a saline persistence of rare composure.
