Champagne Sigma |20|4.0 by Valentin Leflaive is a Blanc de Blancs that precisely embodies the elegance and purity of the Côte des Blancs, from which this 100% Chardonnay blend originates. The grapes, grown according to sustainable viticulture principles, come from vineyards with an average age of 40 years, located in the prestigious villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Villeneuve, Grauves, Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Avize, achieving a perfect balance of 76% Grand Cru and 24% Premier Cru.

The base vintage is 2020, complemented by 28% vin de réserve, which adds greater complexity to the wine's profile. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and oak barrels, with fractional pressing rigorously selecting only the finest must. After bottling, the wine matures for over 30 months on its lees, developing a harmonious structure, enhanced by a final dosage of just 4 g/l – Extra Brut.

On the palate, Sigma |20|4.0 opens with a refined and luminous aromatic bouquet: notes of white fruits, yuzu, jasmine, honey, and acacia intertwine with elegance. The fine and delicate bubbles caress the palate, revealing a creamy and chalky texture, enriched by a saline finish, both vibrant and persistent. A Blanc de Blancs cuvée that authentically reflects its terroir, offering a Champagne that preserves freshness and integrity over time.

Valentin Leflaive

Valentin Leflaive was born as a journey through terroir and memory, the result of a historic family adventure. Its roots lie in Puligny-Montrachet, where the Leflaive family has cultivated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with precision. Since 2015, Olivier Leflaive has opened a new chapter in Oger, a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs, dedicated to single-vineyard Champagnes (Lieux-Dits) with a fresh and contemporary style.

In 2020, the Maison obtained Négociant-Manipulant status and settled in Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in a cuverie with a chalk cellar. Led by Jean Soubeyrand and cellar master Elysé Brigandat, the work begins with selecting the most outstanding parcels in Champagne. The philosophy is based on a single-vineyard approach, with tailor-made vinifications to preserve the identity of each origin.

The winemaking process favours precision: fermentations in tanks or Burgundy barrels from the Grands Crus of Puligny-Montrachet achieve a balance between tension and freshness. The goal is to express the nuances of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims terroirs without artifices, with ageing on lees that gives complexity. At the core of the style lies transparency, clearly stated on the label with a code revealing origin and characteristics.
