The Champagne Exploration E|03 by Tom Gauditiabois was conceived as a project of research and personal interpretation of the terroir of Chézy-sur-Marne, in the Vallée de la Marne, through an equal blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from old vines over 60 years of age. The calcareous, well-drained, and shallow soils give the cuvée a naturally taut structure, while Tom Gauditiabois’ artisanal approach prioritizes identity, precision, and expressive transparency, with no stylistic concessions.

This magnum edition, with a 2018 base vintage, is made from grapes harvested at full maturity. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 400-liter oak barrels for about a month, followed by malolactic fermentation completed slowly during the following spring. After tirage, the wine undergoes lees aging for over 60 months, with no final dosage, defining a rigorously crafted Brut Nature style.

On tasting, Exploration E|03 reveals a deep, measured profile, with notes of ripe fruit, evolved citrus, and chalky nuances. On the palate, the texture is compact and saline, supported by integrated freshness and a full yet never excessive body. The structure is balanced, the tension progressive, and the finish long and dry, reflecting coherence, precision, and an authentic expression of both vintage and place. Available in an extremely limited release of just 160 magnums.
