Philippe Lancelot represents the fifth generation of vignerons in his family, rooted in the village of Cramant, classified as 100% Grand Cru in the Côte des Blancs. In the 1970s, it was Yves Lancelot, Philippe’s father, who marked a decisive turning point by beginning to vinify the harvest from the family’s own vineyards “at home,” at a time when most growers still sold their grapes to the grandes Maisons. From this choice was born an artisanal and independent vision that Philippe has evolved with rigor and sensitivity, combining family heritage with contemporary exploration.

Since 2010, the Domaine has undertaken the organic conversion of its roughly 4 hectares of vineyards, spread across Cramant, Chouilly, Oiry, and Avize, on a block of pure chalk free of sedimentary layers. The approach follows the principles of biodynamics, with practices that respect soil vitality and environmental biodiversity. The estate, now Demeter certified, stands as a testament to a steady commitment to sustainable viticulture, enhancing the purity of Chardonnay and the authentic voice of the terroir.

In the cellar, Philippe Lancelot pursues a philosophy of transparency and precision, based on spontaneous fermentations, minimal intervention, and extended lees aging—often beyond 60 months—with consistently low dosage. The resulting Champagnes are pure, energetic, and deep, marked by the mineral tension and refined elegance of the Côte des Blancs. Each bottle reflects the coherence and vision of a vigneron in evolution, a conscious interpreter of a future that is ever more green and sustainable for Champagne.
