Champagne Le Brun de Neuville
Millésime Magnum 2009
The Champagne Millèsime by Le Brun de Neuville reveals the brightest and most mineral side of the Côte de Sézanne, the southern area of the Marne where Chardonnay finds a generous and sunny expression. The grapes come from old vines around 40 years of age, facing south-east and rooted in clay and chalk soils. This terroir gives the wines a natural richness of fruit, supported by a chalky tension that carries them elegantly along the long passage of time.
This edition, Vintage 2009, is based predominantly on Chardonnay grapes (93%), completed by a small share of Pinot Noir (7%) that adds structure and depth. Vinification and alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromatic purity and freshness of the vintage. After tirage, a long ageing on the lees of about 13 years follows, bringing complexity and great finesse, while the final dosage of 6 g/l, in Brut style, completes a profile of remarkable harmony.
On tasting, Millèsime 2009 shows an intense golden yellow colour with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose reveals evolved notes of ripe yellow fruit, candied citrus, toasted brioche and hazelnut, enriched by hints of honey and a delicate chalky touch. On the palate it is harmonious and savoury, with a creamy mousse and a still lively freshness that balances the richness gained from the long ageing, leading to a saline, deep and long-lasting finish.
