Celebris Vintage 2012

The Champagne Celebris by Gosset is the ninth edition of the prestige cuvée, created in 1995 to embody the stylistic pinnacle of the Maison. Only vintages with an exceptional temperament earn a place in this collection, the expression of a philosophy that celebrates purity, vinosity and elegance without compromise, in a constant pursuit of balance between fruit, tension and depth.

This edition, Vintage 2012, expresses a harvest of solar and fruity character through the union of 70% Chardonnay grapes and 30% Pinot Noir grapes, selected from the Premiers and Grands Crus villages of Ambonnay, Avize, Aÿ, Bouzy, Cramant, Cuis, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Trépail and Villers-Marmery. Vinification and fermentation take place in stainless steel without malolactic conversion. After tirage, the wine matures on its lees for over 10 years, with a post-dégorgement rest of at least 9 months. The final dosage of 5.5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, perfectly integrates the overall harmony.

On tasting, Celebris Vintage 2012 is luminous and traversed by a crystalline, ultra-fine perlage. The nose opens on the freshness of pear interwoven with sweet orange and grapefruit zest, evolving into gourmand notes of tarte bourdaloue between almond and baked fruit. The palate reveals structure and depth, suspended between mineral tension and enveloping density, with echoes of gooseberry, raspberry and yellow-fleshed red cherry in a saline, refined finish. Production in a limited run of 25,000 bottles.

Gosset

Gosset is the oldest Maison in Champagne, founded in 1584 in Aÿ by Pierre Gosset, lord and Échevin of the village. The family's roots trace back to Jean Gosset (1484-1556), "Lord of Aÿ and Mareuil", the first documented ancestor of the dynasty. For sixteen generations of direct lineage, the Gosset family has safeguarded a savoir-faire passed down from father to son, until 1993, when the Maison joined the family-owned Renaud-Cointreau group, which has since devotedly preserved its original style and identity.

In 2009, on the occasion of its 425th anniversary, the Maison moved to Épernay into the splendid Hôtel Trouillard, an early twentieth-century building set within a protected park, beneath which stretch around five kilometres of galleries carved into the chalk, reaching depths of up to twenty metres. Here, a constant temperature and humidity of around eighty percent accompany the slow ageing of the bottles. Its iconic emblem remains the celebrated bouteille antique, introduced by Jean Gosset in 1760 and adorned with the refined medaillon en sautoir designed by Albert Gosset.

The vineyards span approximately 140 hectares across a refined mosaic of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus in the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, with plots in the most prestigious villages such as Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Vertus and Cumières. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier give rise to an unmistakable style, defined by mineral freshness, vinosity and finesse, sustained by the Viticulture Durable en Champagne certification. Each bottle thus becomes the reflection of more than four centuries of timeless elegance, preserved in the most authentic spirit of Champagne.
