Champagne Famille Moussé
Eugène Rosé
The Champagne Eugène Rosé by Famille Moussé originates in the Vallée de la Marne, a region historically devoted to Meunier, the grape variety that represents the stylistic signature of the Moussé family. The cuvée is dedicated to Eugène Moussé, a central figure in the history of the estate, and interprets rosé Champagne through an artisanal approach strongly rooted in its terroir. The blend gives prominence to Meunier, accounting for about three quarters of the composition, complemented by Pinot Noir, with the aim of expressing the generous and fruit-driven character of the Vallée de la Marne through a precise and contemporary interpretation of rosé Champagne.
This edition is based on a réserve perpétuelle started in 2003 and continued until 2023, an element that provides depth and stylistic continuity to the wine. Part of the blend comes from Meunier vinified as red wine, sourced from a single parcel and aged for several years in wooden barrels, while the remainder is made up of the base of the Eugène cuvée. Vinification and fermentation are followed by an aging on the lees of around 18 months. The final dosage of 2.5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, keeps the wine’s profile tense and precise, allowing the purity of the fruit and the identity of the terroir to emerge clearly.
On the palate, Eugène Rosé reveals an elegant and dynamic profile. The bouquet recalls wild strawberries, fresh raspberry, pomegranate and red citrus, accompanied by delicate floral nuances and light spicy and toasted notes. The palate is vibrant and well-defined, supported by lively freshness and a refined texture that highlights the character of Meunier. The progression is precise and savory, leading to a persistent finish that combines mineral tension with subtle fruity nuances, delivering a rosé of remarkable personality and balance.
