Initiation Rosé

The Champagne Initiation Rosé by Benoît Déhu represents the most immediate and refined interpretation of the vigneron’s style from Fossoy, in the Vallée de la Marne, a territory where Meunier finds its most authentic expression. The Déhu project was born from the desire to convey the pure character of the terroir through biodynamic viticulture and an artisanal, non-interventionist approach that emphasizes balance and transparency.

This edition is based on the 2020 vintage, a year that yielded grapes of remarkable aromatic purity and natural tension. The blend combines 75% Meunier and 25% Pinot Noir, sourced from selected parcels around the village, grown on clay–limestone soils with Kimmeridgian and Portlandian formations. Spontaneous fermentation takes place partly in 228-liter oak barrels (fûts de chêne), where the wine matures before tirage. It is then aged on the lees for around 24 months, developing complexity and aromatic depth. The Brut Nature dosage (0 g/l) reflects the Domaine’s essential, pure style, highlighting the varietal and mineral identity of Meunier.

On the palate, Initiation Rosé shows a pale pink color with copper reflections, offering aromas of wild strawberry, pomegranate, white flowers, and subtle spicy notes. The taste is tense and harmonious, with a crisp fruit texture, vibrant freshness, and delicate minerality that lead to a precise, energetic, and well-balanced finish. A Rosé Champagne of natural elegance and territorial authenticity, embodying the contemporary sensitivity of Benoît Déhu.
