Champagne Dom Pérignon
Rosé Vintage 2009

Dom Pérignon Rosé is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility. In that regard, Dom Pérignon Rosé is a paradox to the point of contradiction as it is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Although it took over ten years to reach the light of day, the color of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint. Dom Pérignon Rosé keeps the Pinot Noir promise by making it sing out loud, on a clear, vibrant and fragile note.

The 2009 vintage began with a particularly harsh winter. The Champagne region was marked by intermittent snowfalls and temperatures remained rather low. The spring was warm but rainy. The weather was not favourable for flowering and the risk of blight developing was high. Despite a few storms that endangered the health of the vines, the summer proved to be particularly sunny, especially in August. The weather remained warm, dry and very sunny for five consecutive weeks. On 4 September, a hailstorm hit the vineyards of Hautvillers, Verzenay and Chouilly. However, summer returned the following day and the grapes continued to ripen in absolute tranquillity. The harvest began on 12 September in simply idyllic conditions. The health of the grapes was excellent and their ripeness, emphasised by a wonderful aromatic expression, was superlative.

To the nose, Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 begins with fleeting aromas of rose, orange oil and saffron, the bouquet becomes warmer, dominated by red fruits - raspberry and cherry - and dark notes of cassis and fig. At the end, sweetness triumphs, with notes of gingerbread and liquorice. The fruit is majestic, ripe, fleshy and deep. After an initial sensation of softness and roundness, the wine opens up in the heart of the palate, settling like an intimate caress. The power is restrained and the dominant impression is consistency. The savoury sensations converge and persist, leaving the memory of their tactile imprint. Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 is radiant and the grapes appear in all their majesty, round, rich and generous. The wine displays all the aromatic nuances of Pinot Noir - raspberry, fig, strawberry, cherry - amplified by the delicacy, mineral elegance and crystalline notes of Chardonnay.
