Champagne Pommery
Collection Millésime d'Or Magnum 1988

The Maison Pommery hosts a precious and rare treasure, a Vinothéque of 300,000 bottles which is the largest collection of 19th and 21st century vintages. This collection tells the story of a century of Champagne through the life of a man who built his Maison and organized his life so that his wines could be discovered and tasted all over the world.

The Millésimes d'Or allow a journey back in time in step with the history of Champagne, and in particular that of their Champagne, from 1874 - the year in which Madame Pommery created the Brut Nature - up to the present day.

A "flacon d'Exception", exceptional Millésimes presented in an elegant and refined package, which offer to those who taste them a unique moment of time, a glimpse of eternity.

Champagne Pommery

In 1858 a 39-year-old French widow became the manager of his husband's Maison of Champagne: her name was Jeanne Alexandrine Louise Mélin, maybe better known under his husband's surname: Louise Pommery. At that time, the French original tradition wanted Champagnes in their supplest version demi-sec, but Louise Pommery had a great idea: aiming at satisfying the English taste (the English public was the most devoted consumer market), in 1874 Madame Pommery asked her Chef de Cave, Victor Lambert, to create a dry Champagne, both light and elegant. Pommery Nature was born: it was the first Brut of the history, tasting like the Champagne we still taste today: its success was without borders. Right now, the Maison owns the Vranken-Pommery-Monopole group, led by the Vraken family. Since 1992 Thierry Gasco has been Chef de Cave, but Cuvée Louise is assembled with the cooperation of Prince Alain de Polignac, Louise's grandnephew and inspirer of this Champagne.
