Cuvée des Croix Courcelles 2019

The Côteaux Champenois Blanc Cuvée des Croix Courcelles 2019 by Maison Henri Giraud is a white wine made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay harvested from the same-name lieu-dit located near the village of Aÿ (100% Grand Cru). Vinification in new wooden barrels from the Argonne forest and ageing for about 12 months before bottling in July 2020 (2,200 bottles).

The Côteaux Champenois Blanc Cuvée des Croix Courcelles 2019 is a very fresh white wine that reveals a beautiful minerality. To the nose it has hints of grapefruit, almond and white flowers. As it opens in the glass it reveals more exotic aromas of white peach, melon and apricot. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, with a delicate texture and good creaminess. One of the distinguishing characteristics of Côteaux Champenois Blanc is its marked acidity, which is why Maison Henri Giraud lets the wine age in the bottle for years before marketing it.

The Maison Henri Giraud has old origins: it all started in 1628 when the Hémart family settled down in Aÿ, Grand Cru in the heart of Vallée de la Marne. At the beginning of the 20th century, Léon Giraud got married with Madeleine Hémart and they rebuilt the family's vineyards, previously devasted by phylloxera. The Maison is now experiencing its 13th vigneron generation with Emmanuelle, grand-niece of the founder, after which the cave is named. The annual production of the Maison Henri Giraud is about 260,000 bottles and is characterised by a personal idea of the use of wood in the different stages of vinification of each Cuvée.
