he Champagne Aÿ Rosé MV by Henri Giraud is the most prestigious multi-vintage Rosé of the Maison, an exceptional cuvée that expresses the highest refinement and elegance of the Aÿ Grand Cru terroir. This unique cuvée is crafted from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir – of which 8% is vinified in red – and 30% Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne.
The Pinot Noir vinified in red comes from a historic vineyard planted in the 1950s, and its wine is fermented in terracotta amphorae, a technique that preserves the purity of the fruit and enhances its structure. The rest of the cuvée is fermented and aged in oak barriques from the Argonne forest (20% new), which confer complexity and depth. After the prise de mousse, the Champagne ages in the bottle for at least 60 months, acquiring an extraordinary aromatic expression and a bold character.
During the tasting, the Champagne Aÿ Rosé MV stands out for its brilliant rosé hue, with copper reflections and a lively effervescence, a sign of great freshness and elegance. On the nose, the bouquet is broad and refined, with notes of wild strawberries, raspberries, and citrus fruits such as mandarin and orange, enriched by spicy nuances and a distinct minerality given by the chalky terroir of Aÿ. On the palate, it is distinguished by its complex and enveloping structure, with a vibrant salinity and delicate smoky accents, derived from oak aging and interaction with the mineral-rich soil. The finish is long and persistent, with a perfect balance between freshness, elegance, and power.
Its well-calibrated salinity and bitter tones make it ideal for lovers of structured and complex Rosé Champagnes.
The Maison Henri Giraud boasts an illustrious history that dates back to 1628, when the Hémart family settled in Aÿ, one of the most prestigious Grand Cru of the Vallée de la Marne. At the beginning of the 20th century, the marriage between Léon Giraud and Madeleine Hémart marked a new era for the Maison, with the reconstruction of vineyards devastated by phylloxera and the consolidation of the family tradition. Today, the winery is led by the thirteenth generation with Emmanuelle Giraud, a direct descendant of the founder, who continues to uphold the legacy of excellence and savoir-faire.
The vineyards of the Maison extend across the communes of Aÿ, Dizy, and Mutigny, with a predominance of Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay, both cultivated using sustainable methods to preserve the balance of the terroir. One of the Maison’s distinctive aspects is the use of oak barrels from the Argonne forest for the fermentation and aging of each cuvée, a technique reintroduced in the 1990s, which gives the Champagne depth, complexity, and structure. The wood, used with precision, enhances the nuances of each wine without ever overpowering its purity and elegance.
The philosophy of Henri Giraud is based on a balance between tradition, innovation, and sustainability. Committed to biodiversity and environmental protection, the Maison has launched several initiatives, including collaboration with the French National Forestry Office (ONF) in the “Forever & Ever, Argonne” project, dedicated to the reforestation of the historic forest from which the oak for its barrels is sourced. This commitment, combined with a constant pursuit of quality, makes Henri Giraud one of the most prestigious Champagne Maisons, a symbol of excellence and innovation.
