Les Chardonnays de Verzy
The Champagne Les Chardonnays de Verzy by Sacy Sœur & Frère is a Blanc de Blancs that celebrates the mineral identity of Verzy, a Grand Cru village from the Montagne de Reims, and comes from two plots of the commune, Saint-Bets (lieu-dit) and Croix de l’Ammonire (lieu-dit). Here Yaël and Jonathan Sacy interpret the purity of Chardonnay with an artisanal sensibility, offering a contemporary and sincere vision of their family terroir, guided by a natural and respectful approach in which the bond between soil, vine and time becomes an expression of authenticity.
This edition, 2023 harvest, undergoes spontaneous vinification and fermentation followed by maturation in oak barrels (fût de chêne), without filtration or fining, guiding the Chardonnay grapes from the two plots towards a faithful and intact reading of their place of origin. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for around 24 months, developing finesse and depth, while the final dosage of 0.8 g/l, in Extra Brut style, defines an essential and precise profile that enhances the voice of the terroir and the imprint of the oak with balance and natural elegance.
On tasting, Les Chardonnays de Verzy reveals a golden luminosity and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose opens with notes of chalk and flint, interwoven with hints of fresh butter, white flowers and ripe citrus, with a delicate touch of toasted hazelnut. On the palate the attack is vibrant and chiselled, taut yet enveloping, with saline freshness and a creamy texture leading to a long, pure finish of rare precision and persistence.
