Champagne Pascal Agrapart
Pinot Avenay 2019
The Champagne Pinot Avenay by Pascal Agrapart originates in Avenay-Val-d’Or, a historic Premier Cru village in the Grande Vallée de la Marne, and represents the rarest exception within a production historically rooted in the Côte des Blancs. This Blanc de Noirs is crafted from a single parcel of Pinot Noir, the lieu-dit Le Champ Saint-Bernard, interpreted through the Domaine’s rigorous, artisanal vision: respectful viticulture, minimal intervention, and a direct reading of the terroir, with the aim of conveying depth, precision, and expressive energy.
This edition, Millésime 2019, is produced exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes harvested at full ripeness. Vinification follows a low-intervention approach, with spontaneous fermentations and no fining or filtration, in line with Agrapart’s philosophy. After bottling, the wine undergoes extended ageing on the lees for around five years, before being disgorged with no final dosage, in Brut Nature style—a choice that highlights tension, transparency, and aromatic precision.
On tasting, Pinot Avenay reveals a deep, finely chiselled profile. The nose opens on fresh red fruits, citrus zest, and delicate floral nuances, supported by a clear mineral imprint. On the palate it is taut and vertical, driven by precise acidity that carries the substance without weighing it down. The structure is balanced, the progression linear, and the finish long and saline, defining a Champagne of character—essential, focused, and strongly expressive of its identity.
