The Champagne Ambonnay “Freedom” 2019 by Marguet represents one of the purest and most vibrant interpretations of the Grand Cru of Ambonnay, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Sourced from old vines cultivated according to the principles of Demeter-certified biodynamic viticulture, this cuvée authentically expresses the soul of the village, where Pinot Noir (69%) and Chardonnay (31%) merge in a balance of power, tension, and transparency. The name “Freedom” encapsulates Benoît Marguet’s radical philosophy, founded on the expressive liberty of the terroir and the complete absence of technical or oenological compromise.

The 2019 harvest, marked by ripeness and perfect harmony, was vinified entirely in oak barrels with spontaneous fermentation, without fining or filtration. After about 10 months of maturation in wood, the wine was bottled without added sulfites and aged for over 40 months on the lees. The dégorgement took place without dosage (Brut Nature, 0 g/l), confirming the pursuit of absolute purity that defines Marguet’s style. The production, extremely limited, reflects the artisanal and contemplative approach of the Domaine.

On the palate, Ambonnay “Freedom” 2019 shows a broad and polished texture, both tense and profound. The bouquet opens with ripe citrus, Reinette apple, toasted hazelnut, white flowers, and wet chalk, interwoven with subtle spicy and mineral nuances. The taste is vibrant and saline, driven by a precise mineral tension and a long, harmonious persistence. The energetic structure of Pinot Noir finds balance in the finesse of Chardonnay, shaping a Champagne of great precision and personality, emblematic of the expressive freedom and purity of the Ambonnay terroir.
