Champagne Bruno Paillard
Première Cuvée Half Bottle
The Champagne Première Cuvée by Bruno Paillard is the signature of one of the youngest and most rigorous Maisons in Champagne, founded in Reims in 1981, a highly personal interpretation of the art of assemblage crafted independently of the character of any single year. Born from the meeting of more than thirty crus among the noblest terroirs of the region, this creation embodies the constant pursuit of purity and authenticity that drives the Maison, in a crystalline and sophisticated profile that stands as its most recognisable essence.
This edition arises from a blend that shows a prevalence of Pinot Noir grapes at 45%, completed by 33% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier, obtained solely from the first pressing, with vinification and fermentation carried out partly in stainless steel and partly in wood and enriched by vin de réserve, the fruit of more than 25 harvests assembled since 1985 up to a share of 50%. After the tirage comes a maturation of at least 3 years on the lees that culminates in a final dosage in an Extra Brut style, completing the profile with balance and enhancing the aromatic vivacity of this cuvée.
In tasting, Première Cuvée stands out for finesse, minerality and balance rather than power, showing a bright golden straw-yellow hue animated by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose it opens complex and multifaceted, with citrus and fruity notes recalling the Chardonnay, followed by hints of red fruits such as currant, raspberry and morello cherry linked to the Pinot Noir and rounded off by the soft exotic nuances of the Meunier. On the palate the lively, mineral attack reveals a flavoursome, enveloping texture, where citrus and an almond-like sweetness give way to echoes of red and black fruit, supported by a clear salinity that delivers a finish of fine persistence, capable of revealing all the vitality of the chalky terroir from which this wine originates.
