Description

Champagne Thomas Perseval
La Masure 2013

Champagne La Masure 2013 by Thomas Perseval is the result of 100% Pinot Noir from grapes from the lieu-dit "La Masure" planted in 1974, in Chamery, Premier Cru in the Montagne de Reims. Certified organic and elaborated according to the principles of biodynamics, this Millésime vinifies in fût and ages on its own yeasts for at least 8 years before dégorgement à la volée. No added dosage - Brut Nature - and the presence of sulphites is reduced to a minimum.

La Masure 2013 is a Champagne of great strength and character like all the different parcel expressions of Thomas Perseval: a complex and fragrant nose of fresh citrus fruits, candied fruit, ripe peach, almond; and a full and powerful mouth, where mineral freshness and great verticality stand out. To be tried in combination with refined aperitifs or at the end of a meal with a selection of typical soft French cheeses.

Champagne Thomas Perseval

The Domaine Thomas Perseval is located in the pretty Premier Cru village of Chamery, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims Nature Park. Here, on a farm that has been handed down for several generations, Thomas' parents left the cooperative and began to produce their Champagne in the early 80s, under the name of Perseval-Harteel. In 2003 Thomas succeeded his parents, concentrating even more on a natural and respectful viticulture, which will obtain organic certification in 2012. In just 6 plots spread over 2.5 hectares of vineyards, Thomas cultivates, in addition to the typical Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier champenoise varieties, some ancient native varieties such as Petit Meslier, Arbonne and Pinot Blanc on clayey-sandy and calcareous soils. In the vineyard all operations are manual, treatments are with natural compounds and herbal teas and different plants are used to enrich the composition of the soil and contrast diseases of the vine. In the cellar, however, the interventions are minimal: sulphites are almost completely reduced to allow the fruit and its vintage to express itself in the most spontaneous way possible; the addition of the ancient varieties in the assemblage and a rest on their yeasts and in oak for 8 months contributes to bring greater breadth and aromatic complexity to the Cuvées. Thomas Perseval Champagnes are the most sincere expression of the individual lieu-dit and its vintages, interpreted through the natural and respectful philosophy of a vigneron in love with his land.
