Champagne Marx-Coutelas & Fils
Harmonie 2015

The Champagne Harmonie 2015 by Marx-Coutelas & Fils is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir grapes harvested from vineyards around the village of Venteuil in the Vallée de la Marne. Fermentation occurs in steel and in oak barrels. This Champagne rests on its lees for over 60 months and has no final dosage (0 g/l) - making it an Extra Brut. The result is a structured and intense Champagne Millésime.

Winery

Champagne Marx-Coutelas & Fils

It’s in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, in Venteuil, that Champagne Marx-Coutelas has its roots since the seventeenth century, a period to which the first traces of the activity of the oenologist Coutelas date back. Since then, the family's love for viticulture has been handed down from generation to generation, until 1927, when Pierre Coutelas created his first cuvées making his way into the Champagne wine scene. It was then his daughter Claudine Coutelas, who inherited the vines of the Domaine, together with her husband Jacques Marx, who already owned some vineyards, to create the brand Champagne Marx-Coutelas and to give a strong push to the family business. Today the Domaine is managed by Patrick and Bryan, son and grandson of Claudine and Jacques. The vineyard of the Domaine dates back to the 11th century and is spread over a south-facing plateau, with a deep calcareous subsoil and a mixture of sand-clay in the upper layer; characteristics that give a unique character to the wines. Here the three traditional Champagne vines are cultivated according to sustainable viticultural practices in a logic of reasoned agriculture that focus on the protection of biodiversity. The vinification is done according to traditional methods combined with modern practices, pressing through the use of an old traditional oak press and the use of steel vats to ensure perfect temperature management and preserve all the aromatic developments of the wine.
