Krug Rosé is inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the Krug family to conceive a Rosé Champagne that did not yet exist, one that could be re-created each year. Every Édition of Krug Rosé perpetuates this legacy.

The wide palette of elegant notes of the 27ème Édition owes its variety to a selection of 38 wines from 9 different vintages, the youngest of which dates back to 2015 and the oldest to 2005. An additional 10% Pinot Noir of the vintage, traditionally macerated, comes from the blending of plots in Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, bringing spicy notes, colour and structure. The resting period of about seven years in the Krug cellars gives Krug Rosé 27ème Édition a unique expression and elegance.

The Krug Rosé 27ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2015, a year marked by unprecedented heat and drought that prevailed from the end of May to mid-August, slowing grape development. Fortunately, rains and reasonable temperatures in the second half of August allowed the berries to grow in optimal conditions. The harvest took place under the rain between August 31 and September 21, with great heterogeneity from plot to plot. To craft the final creation, plots’ wines of the year were blended with selected plots’ reserve wines from 8 other years. In all, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up 55% of the final blend of this Édition of Krug Rosé.

The Krug Rosé 27ème Édition At first sight, its subtle pale pink colour holds a promise of elegance. On the nose, aromas of rose hips, cured ham, mulberries, redcurrant, peony, pepper and pink grapefruit. On the palate, delicate flavours of honey, citrus and dried fruit with a long finish, enhanced by its fine bubbles complete the experience.

The Krug Maison interprets the extraordinary adventure of Joseph Krug, a determined man, without compromises, who understood that Champagne essence is the delight itself. He wanted to offer his Clients the best of the Champagne delight, every year, regardless of the climate change. Joseph Krug founded the first and unique Maison able to offer a high quality Champagne. In 1843, when his son was still too young to manage the Maison de Champagne, Joseph Krug wrote down his principles and passed them on to the Maison in a cherry-red leaflet. That leaflet is not only of historic importance for the Maison, but also a a man's last will embracing his family and the Champagne region as well. The Maison Krug's philosophy is about grapes selection from single parcels, expressing their own features and soil characteristics; no hierarchy is needed and all vines are taken into consideration, sometimes even parcels as small as a garden. The Maison is looking for stron characters and a contrast between grapes coming from different lots. Krug is the only Maison de Champagne welcoming and representing all vines in excellent wines.
