Ruinart
Founded on 1 September 1729 in Reims, Maison Ruinart is the oldest Maison of Champagne in the world. It was conceived by Nicolas Ruinart, inspired by the insights of his uncle Dom Thierry Ruinart, a Benedictine monk, theologian and historian who was the first to grasp the allure of sparkling wine. Since then the family has guided the Maison without interruption for nearly three centuries, passing down from generation to generation a vision that in 1817 led it to nobility, under the name Ruinart de Brimont.
Its authentic spirit lives in Reims, within the famous crayères, ancient chalk quarries carved out in Gallo-Roman times, descending to a depth of thirty-eight metres in a labyrinth of galleries laid out over several levels. Here, at a constant temperature and in absolute silence, the Maison's cuvées rest. Since 2015 this extraordinary heritage has been inscribed on the UNESCO list, guardian of an identity whose unmistakable signature is Chardonnay, a byword for elegance and luminous freshness.
The vineyards stretch across the most gifted terroirs, from the CĂ´te des Blancs to the slopes of the Montagne de Reims, where Chardonnay meets Pinot Noir and Meunier on ideal chalky soils. Among the parcels stand out the Grand Cru of Sillery, still linked to the descendants of the family, and Taissy, mentioned in the archives as early as 1733. Certified Haute Valeur Environnementale and Viticulture Durable en Champagne, the Maison cultivates its future with respect. A refined invitation to discover the purest art of Champagne.
