Chartogne-Taillet

Chartogne-Taillet is a family Domaine based in Merfy, in the Montagne de Reims, with a winegrowing history deeply rooted in the village tradition and in the memory of the Taillet family, documented by ancient vineyard and cellar records. The Chartogne family arrived in Merfy in 1870, while the name Chartogne-Taillet was created in 1920 through the marriage of Marie Chartogne and Étienne Taillet. Since 2006, Alexandre Chartogne has led the Domaine with a precise and contemporary vision, focused on the interpretation of individual terroirs, soil vitality and the fullest expression of each parcel.

The work focuses mainly on Merfy, a historic village north-west of Reims, where soils of sand, clay, limestone and marl give rise to deep, saline Champagnes rich in tension. Each parcel is carefully observed and vinified to enhance its identity and differences, from the most renowned lieux-dits such as Les Barres, Les Couarres, Heurtebise and Le Chemin de Reims to the blended cuvées. The result is a range of artisanal, energetic and mineral Champagnes, capable of combining precision, depth and a strong territorial imprint.
