Champagne Clément Leclere

Les Carillons 2020

The Champagne Les Carillons 2020 by Leclere Minard is conceived as a single-parcel interpretation of Chardonnay sourced from the Lieu-Dit Les Paradis, a vineyard planted in 1992 with a south-east exposure, located in Coulommes-la-Montagne, within the Petite Montagne de Reims. The project offers a faithful reading of its terroir through an environmentally respectful approach, guided by non-certified organic principles and focused on expressing both origin and vintage.

This base vintage 2020 edition is vinified in fûts and 600-litre demi-muids, with spontaneous fermentations and an oak ageing period of around 11 months, without fining or filtration. After bottling, the wine undergoes approximately 36 months of ageing on the lees, prior to dégorgement à la volée, carried out with no final dosage, defining an Extra Brut style that is essential and rigorous, allowing the terroir’s profile to emerge freely.

In tasting, Les Carillons 2020 stands out for its clear and harmonious expression, with citrus notes, hints of dried fruit and floral nuances that lead into on the palate a taut and linear texture. The structure is well-balanced, the progression precise, and the finish extends with good persistence, delivering a cuvée released in a limited, numbered production of just 516 bottles, emblematic of a careful and measured artisanal approach.

Clément Leclere

Fourth generation of winemakers in Coulommes-la-Montagne, in the heart of the Petite Montagne de Reims, Clément Leclere Minard is now the young face of the family Domaine Leclere Minard. After a background in accounting and an experience in Australia, he chose to devote himself to wine, graduating in oenology and earning a degree in wine and spirits law. Thus began a passionate and rigorous journey into the world of Champagne, enriched by two years of apprenticeship with David Léclapart and an experience at the Domaine of Julien Guillot in the Mâconnais, in Burgundy.

In 2018, Clément collaborated with Maison Tarlant, and since 2021 has embarked on his own personal project, taking over full management of the 2.3 hectares of the family Domaine. He immediately stood out for his free, experimental approach, sometimes outside the box but always rooted in his territory. Clément aims to produce wines that are brilliant, pure, dynamic and authentic, sincere expressions of the land they come from. In the vineyard, he adopts organic practices – though not certified – in full respect of the natural balance.

In the cellar, he adopts the principles learned from master Léclapart: parcel-based vinifications, indigenous yeasts, no corrective interventions, and aging in wood. His philosophy is based on the idea that each vintage should express its own character, enhancing grape variety and terroir through an essential vinification, uncompromising, and strictly “zero chemicals”. A meticulous work that results in authentic, tense, and vibrant Champagnes, capable of precisely conveying their landscape of origin.

The first cuvée, Trame Noire (993 bottles), debuted in 2021, marking the beginning of a promising journey. In 2022, new limited-edition labels followed: Chardonnay de Coulommes (600 bottles), Meunier de Coulommes (600 bottles), and Meunier de Courmas, all vinified in a parcel-based and single-varietal manner. Clément Leclere-Minard thus confirms himself as one of the most interesting vignerons to follow, capable of combining contemporary vision, artisanal sensibility, and deep respect for his land.
