Among the most authentic voices of artisanal Champagne, Alexandre Grimée is shaping a personal path rooted in family tradition. Born in 1988 in the Vallée de la Marne, grandson of a winegrower and raised in the historic homeland of Meunier, he founded his own micro-domaine in 2010 in Azy-sur-Marne. Here he cultivates just one hectare, with parcels also in nearby Bonneil, a natural south-facing amphitheatre that offers ideal conditions for a precise and vibrant expression of the terroir.

In the vineyard he adopts a deeply personal approach, describing his single hectare as a “garden” to be tended with respect, humility and constant self-questioning. He works entirely on his own, focusing daily on the soil, the vines and their evolution. His commitment to thoughtful farming has driven a gradual agronomic transition, culminating in organic certification with the 2023 harvest—a natural outcome of years of deliberate choices and coherent methodology.

In the cellar, Alexandre calls himself a “discreet companion” to the grapes, present yet never intrusive. His guiding principle is adaptability: allowing each vintage to express its own character, intervening only when needed and following a pace dictated by the wine itself. Gentle fermentations, minimal handling and a sensitivity to the personality of every year shape a style centred on authenticity, terroir identity and transparency. In this balance of restraint, craftsmanship and attentive listening, the signature of a vigneron destined for growing attention is taking form.
