The Champagne Rosé by Alexandre Grimée is the intimate and sincere expression of a vigneron who works just one hectare of vines alone in Bonneil, at the western end of the Vallée de la Marne. Here the parcels form a natural south-facing amphitheatre, on clay-limestone soils with slopes that grow steep towards the top. The Meunier vines were planted by his grandparents in 1973 and are now farmed with respect and humility, with organic certification from the 2023 harvest. It is an artisanal and confidential production that authentically conveys the liveliest character of Meunier from this corner of Champagne.

This edition, from the 2022 harvest, is a Rosé d’assemblage made only from Meunier grapes from the Sous les Trous (lieu-dit) and Les Douaires (lieu-dit) parcels in Bonneil. Vinification and fermentation take place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention in the cellar, without fining or filtration, to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the imprint of the soil. After tirage, the wine ages on its lees for about 36 months and is then released with no final dosage, in the Brut Nature style.

On tasting, this Rosé shows a salmon-pink hue and a fine perlage, with a bouquet of small red fruits such as redcurrant and raspberry, blood orange and delicate floral and spicy hints that reveal the generosity of Meunier. On the palate it is taut and savoury, with a vinous texture well balanced by vibrant freshness and a limestone-driven minerality, while the dry, very persistent finish underlines its purity and precision. Production in a limited run of 400 bottles.
