Champagne Bollinger
La Grande Année 2015
The Champagne La Grande Année by Bollinger represents the highest expression of the Maison's philosophy, produced only in years deemed exceptional, when the quality of the harvest reaches its peak. It is a wine that captures the deep, vinous soul of a great tradition, able to unite power and finesse in an intense dialogue with the historic terroirs of Champagne, where each cru contributes its own identity to a cuvée that is both concentrated and generous.
This edition, Vintage 2015, comes from a year marked by a mild winter and a gentle spring, followed by a hot, dry summer with considerable water stress that produced small and highly concentrated berries, harvested from 4 September with extremely healthy and ripe grapes. The blend shows a predominance of Pinot Noir at 60% alongside Chardonnay at 40%, sourced from 11 crus, mainly Aÿ, Verzenay and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ for the former and Chouilly and Avize for the latter. Vinification and fermentation take place entirely in oak barrels, and after tirage a lees ageing of around 8 years follows under cork, with manual remuage and dégorgement and a final dosage of 8 g/l, in a Brut style.
On tasting, La Grande Année 2015 shows golden yellow reflections that reveal its maturity, while on the palate it appears fleshy, generous and enveloping, sustained by an extraordinary density of substance. Texture and richness define the experience, where the generosity of the fruit meets an acidic vein that brings drive and tension, leading to a long, deep finish that weaves in mineral notes, extending a persistence of rare breadth.
