La Grande Année Magnum 2018
The Champagne La Grande Année by Bollinger represents the ultimate expression of the House’s finest vintages, interpreted through a handcrafted approach that defines each Millésime. This cuvée embodies a precise vision of artisanal Champagne, rooted in traditional practices such as oak vinification, extended ageing on the lees under natural cork, and manual riddling. An identity shaped over time, combining precision, depth, and remarkable ageing potential.
This edition, Millésime 2018, originates from a growing season marked by a rainy winter, followed by a mild spring and a warm, dry summer, conditions that ensured optimal ripening of the grapes. The blend brings together 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay, sourced from 19 crus classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, with a core from the villages of Aÿ and Verzenay. Vinification and maturation take place entirely in used oak barrels, followed, after tirage, by more than 7 years of ageing on the lees. The process is completed with manual riddling and manual dégorgement, while a final dosage of 6 g/l, in Brut style, defines a balanced and harmonious profile.
On the palate, La Grande Année 2018 displays a bright golden yellow colour. The nose opens with citrus, Granny Smith apple, and orchard fruits such as white peach and apricot, evolving into notes of fresh almond, acacia honey, and breadcrumb. The palate shows structure and precision, with hints of cooked fruit and quince, supported by a creamy effervescence and a long, balanced, and persistent finish.
