Rosé de Maceracion Les Moussiaux 2020
The Champagne Rosé de Macération Les Moussiaux by Tristan Hyest tells the story of an intimate and little-celebrated corner of the Vallée de la Marne, that slope of Trélou-sur-Marne where the clay-limestone and sandy soils give the wines an unmistakable mineral tension and brightness. It comes from a plot planted in the late Eighties and from viticulture kept as natural as possible, the expression of an artisan vision that reads every parcel as a small treasure chest where time and patience count for more than quantity.
This edition, Vintage 2020, shows a clear predominance of Pinot Noir grapes alongside 25% Meunier, with a vinification that involves a carefully calibrated maceration on the skins, from which come its pale colour and vibrant fruity substance. After the tirage it ages on the lees for a minimum of four years, with a final dosage below 1 g/l, in an Extra Brut style.
On tasting, Les Moussiaux 2020 reveals a pale, bright colour and a nose that alternates crisp small red fruits, delicate notes of pink citrus and a lightly spiced background of appreciable finesse. On the palate it shows a taut, vibrant balance, supported by a savoury acidity and creamy, well-integrated bubbles, with a slender, tapered structure and a long, saline persistence closing on a fresh, mineral and pleasingly satisfying trail. Production in a limited run of 449 bottles and 12 magnums.
