Champagne Corbon
Les Bacchantes Millésime 2020
The Champagne Les Bacchantes by Corbon owes its name to an affectionate tribute, because in French bacchantes means moustache, and that of Claude, father of Agnès, who brought the estate to life in 1971, has become a symbol of the Domaine's family history. This Rosé de Saignée looks beyond the Côte des Blancs towards the vineyards of Verneuil, on the Rive Droite of the Vallée de la Marne, where clay-limestone marl soils farmed without pesticides or herbicides give the Meunier generosity, fruit and character.
This edition, Vintage 2020, comes from a warm and early year that brought the Meunier grapes to full ripeness, with generous fruit and good freshness. Vinification follows the saignée method, with a short maceration on the skins that gives the wine colour and aromas, while fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, without malolactic fermentation, filtration or fining. After tirage comes ageing on the lees for at least 48 months, which refines the texture and brings balance and depth.
On tasting, the Rosé de Saignée Les Bacchantes 2020 shows an intense, brilliant pink colour, opening on a fruity and layered nose, where wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant weave together with delicate floral notes and a light spicy touch. On the palate the material is juicy, dynamic and well sculpted, supported by vibrant acidity and a refined structure that accompanies the fruit with balance towards a fresh, saline and luminous finish of fine persistence.
