Les Longues Fouines 2019

The Champagne Les Longues Fouines by Tristan Hyest originates in Trélou-sur-Marne, in the Vallée de la Marne, from a lieu-dit of just 0.7 hectares, east-facing and planted with Meunier between 2006 and 2007. It is a Blanc de Noirs that offers a precise reading of this parcel, highlighting the vineyard’s identity through an artisanal approach focused on purity and coherence of the terroir.

This edition, Millésime 2019, is crafted with vinification and fermentation aimed at preserving integrity and clarity of expression, following a restrained and low-intervention approach. After bottling, the wine undergoes lees aging for a minimum of 5 years, enhancing structure and depth. The final dosage of 0 g/l, in Brut Nature style, defines a taut, precise profile with no concessions.

On the palate, Les Longues Fouines 2019 reveals a tense and layered profile, with notes of white fruit, citrus, and delicate floral nuances. It stands out for its fine texture, supported by freshness, salinity, and a clear mineral imprint, leading to a long, precise, and harmonious finish.

Tristan Hyest naturally embodies the figure of the artisan vigneron, bound to his land and to a family tradition of winegrowers. His father settled in Trélou-sur-Marne, in the Terroir de Condé of the Vallée de la Marne, in the early 1980s, drawing on experience gained with several producers. Tristan took up this legacy after studying oenology: he joined the estate in 1999, took charge of the vineyards in 2001 and in 2003 signed his first Champagnes from just two and a half hectares.

Today the Domaine covers around ten hectares, half planted to Meunier and the rest to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, on chalk and limestone soils that shade into sands and clays. Vines averaging some thirty years old, farmed as naturally as possible and without chemicals, give low yields and grapes of great character, vinified with indigenous yeasts in steel, barrels and foudres and aged at length on the lees. The result is vinous Champagnes that break the mould, speaking the frank language of Meunier and of a Vallée de la Marne far from the spotlight.
