Suenen

The story of Champagne Suenen is bound to the Côte des Blancs, where the family has grown vines since 1898. It was Aurélien's grandparents who, in the 1920s, produced the first bottles of Blanc de Blancs, disgorged and corked by hand, before his father Daniel devotedly expanded production. Since 2009 Aurélien Suenen has led the family Domaine, based in Cramant, which tends just over three hectares of vines split into small parcels across the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs, from Cramant to Oiry and on to Chouilly and Avize.

The vineyards, set on clay-limestone soils resting on chalk, are planted mainly with Chardonnay, alongside a few rare ungrafted Meunier vines. Certified organic since 2019, Domaine Suenen nurtures the life of its soils through cover crops, compost and herbal infusions, studying the terroir parcel by parcel. In the cellar, Aurélien favours spontaneous fermentations and long ageing in oak casks, barrels and concrete eggs, giving rise to finely chiselled, luminous Champagnes that invite you to discover the truest soul of the Côte des Blancs.
