Les Ronsures (Pinot Noir) 2020
The Champagne Les Ronsures by Nicolas Maillart comes from a single parcel in the Grand Cru of Bouzy, one of the benchmark terroirs of the Montagne de Reims. The Les Ronsures lieu-dit, planted in 1987 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from massal selection, is farmed with an environmentally respectful approach and reflects a deeply terroir-driven vision, in which the natural power of the grape varieties is guided toward a precise and balanced expression, free of any superstructure.
This Pinot Noir edition, Vintage 2020, is a Blanc de Noirs vinified in oak barrels, with maturation on the fine lees that builds complexity and depth without sacrificing freshness and tension. The winemaking approach is essential, with interventions kept to a minimum and every step focused on preserving the most authentic expression of the vineyard. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for at least 36 months. Released without final dosage, in Extra Brut style, it reveals the identity of both terroir and grape variety in a direct and transparent way, giving life to a Champagne of character and precision with a strong sense of place.
On tasting, Les Ronsures Pinot Noir 2020 shows a bold and layered profile. The nose reveals ripe red fruit, notes of plum, subtle spices and light evolved nuances. On the palate the structure is broad and coherent, supported by precise acidity and a mineral texture that carries a deep and continuous progression. The finish is long, dry and saline, delivering a Blanc de Noirs of great personality that combines energy, balance and an authentic reading of Bouzy Pinot Noir. Production in a limited run of 3,402 bottles.
