Jolivettes 2020
The Champagne Jolivettes by Nicolas Maillart is a faithful portrait of a single parcel from Bouzy, the Grand Cru village of the Montagne de Reims renowned for the power and elegance of its Pinot Noir. On just 0.6 hectares of limestone and chalk soils, vines planted in 1987 from massal selection give an intense and authentic expression of the site. The Domaine treats it as a true terroir signature and lets the parcel itself express its personality, with an identity that is recognisable from the very first encounter.
This edition, Vintage 2020, is a Blanc de Noirs made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes harvested in the parcel that gives the wine its name. Vinification and maturation take place over around 10 months in 228-litre oak barrels, in a style that favours the expression of fruit and the depth of the wine, while the absence of filtration preserves its integrity. After the tirage, the wine ages on its lees for at least 36 months and is released without final dosage, in Extra Brut style, a choice that reveals with complete transparency the natural richness of Bouzy Pinot Noir.
On tasting, Jolivettes 2020 shows an intense colour with coppery reflections, between rosé and amber, revealing the concentration of Pinot Noir. The nose opens with a deep aromatic profile, where ripe red fruit mingles with elegant toasty and spicy hints of oak. On the palate the attack is broad and generous, supported by a rich structure and a vibrant freshness that keeps the wine in perfect balance and carries it towards a long finish of remarkable persistence. Production in a limited run of 4,077 bottles.
