The Champagne Cuvée 4 by Herbert & Co. is the most complete expression of the vigneron’s style, a blend that brings together the soul of the different villages of the Montagne de Reims in a single bottle. The grapes come from the Premier Cru villages of Rilly-la-Montagne, Ludes and Trois-Puits and from the Grand Cru villages of Verzenay and Mailly, where the Herbert family has tended its vineyards for over a century, in a terroir renowned for elegance, depth and complexity.

This edition shows a prevalence of Pinot Noir grapes at 45%, alongside 22% Chardonnay grapes. It is completed by 33% vin de réserve from a perpetual solera, which enriches the youngest vintage with depth and stylistic consistency. Vinification and maturation take place in 228-litre Burgundy barrels, where the carefully measured oak brings breadth and complexity without taking away drive and precision. After tirage, it ages for at least 36 months on the lees before dégorgement, which refines the perlage and enriches the aromatic profile. The final dosage of less than 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, keeps the wine pure and essential, true to its fruit and terroir.

On tasting, Cuvée 4 shows a bright golden colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose opens with notes of ripe fruit, candied citrus and delicate toasty hints from its time in oak. On the palate it shows structure and tension, with vibrant mineral freshness that supports the depth of the fruit and leads to a long, harmonious finish. Production in a limited run of 1,300 bottles.
