Champagne A. Lamblot
Les Fourgons
The Champagne Les Fourgons by A. Lamblot offers a clear portrait of a single plot from Vrigny, a village in the Petite Montagne de Reims where Meunier finds one of its most authentic and characterful expressions. The grapes come from the Les Cochènes (lieu-dit) parcel, planted in 1990 on Ypresian sands and clays, soils that give the grapes a lovely roundness of fruit together with freshness and well-defined salinity. The result is a sincere and profound single-plot Blanc de Noirs, celebrating a grape variety long underrated and now recognised as a refined interpreter of its terroir.
This edition is made entirely from Meunier grapes, vinified with an essential approach that respects the raw material. Vinification and fermentation take place with indigenous yeasts, malolactic fermentation occurs naturally and the wine matures for three years in demi-muids, without fining or filtration. After tirage, the wine ages on its own lees for about 24 months, followed by hand riddling on pupitres and disgorgement carried out entirely à la volée. It is released without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, so that fruit and terroir can express themselves with full transparency.
On tasting, Les Fourgons shows a bright golden colour and a fine, creamy perlage. The nose is intense and layered, with notes of red apple, ripe pear and small red fruits blending with hints of candied citrus, brioche and toasted hazelnut, along with spicy and lightly oaky nuances from the long maturation in wood. On the palate it is full and fleshy yet supported by lively tension and a marked saline streak, carrying a harmonious progression through to a long and persistent finish that confirms the balance and depth of this single-plot Champagne. Production in a limited run of 350 bottles.
