Les Côtes Chéries
The Champagne Les Côtes Chéries by A. Lamblot is born from a single plot in the village of Gueux, in the Petite Montagne de Reims, where Alexandre Lamblot farms biodynamically a massale selection of Meunier planted in 1984 by his grandfather on Thanetian sandy soils. A wine of place, family history and artisanal vision, produced in deliberately confidential quantities to convey without filters the identity of a unique lieu-dit.
This edition is a Blanc de Noirs from Meunier grapes, vinified and fermented in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, with no malolactic fermentation sought, to preserve the freshness and drive of the fruit. After tirage, the wine spends over two years on its own yeasts, followed by manual remuage and disgorging entirely à la volée. The absence of final dosage – Brut Nature – confirms a pure and essential stylistic choice, aimed at restoring the authentic voice of the Meunier from Gueux.
On tasting, Les Côtes Chéries presents a pale golden hue with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is highly expressive, with ripe pear, white flowers and honey intertwined with a smoky, spiced note typical of Meunier on sandy soils, and a mineral depth of striking precision. On the palate the attack is bold and velvety, the texture broad and enveloping, sustained by a crayeux mineral thread running through the wine to a long, saline finish with echoes of walnut and citrus. The absence of dosage heightens the aromatic purity and the terroir's precision, delivering a balance between tension and roundness of rare consistency. Production in a limited run of 580 bottles.
