Champagne A. Lamblot
"La vigne Ă Vovone" Collection
The Champagne by A. Lamblot meets its still counterpart in the “La Vigne à Vovone” gift box, a limited-edition wooden case holding two interpretations of the same vineyard, expressed first through the second fermentation and then in the purity of a still wine. The setting is Vrigny, in the Petite Montagne de Reims, where Alexandre Lamblot, the thirteenth generation of a winegrowing family, farms a few hectares with an approach that goes beyond organic. He reintroduces trees between the rows, follows lunar cycles and treats each parcel as a world of its own. This set makes an important gift or a pair of bottles to keep in the cellar, and it is an ideal way to discover the many facets of one of the most sensitive growers of the new Champagne.
This edition, entirely from the 2019 harvest, comes from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Les Clos (lieu-dit) parcel, with vines planted in 1984 on Ypresian silt soils facing south and south-east. For both wines the grapes are pressed separately in a traditional wooden basket press, with spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts and maturation in wood, without fining or filtration. For the Champagne, the tirage is followed by about 3 years of ageing on the lees before dégorgement, and the cuvée is released with no final dosage. The Coteaux Champenois Blanc La Vigne à Vovone expresses the same vineyard as a still wine, a rare white made from black grapes.
On tasting, the Champagne shows a fine, creamy perlage and a taut aromatic profile of crisp apple, citrus, a hint of small red berries and a clear mineral thread. On the palate it is vertical and precise, with vibrant freshness balanced by the substance of Pinot Noir and a long, saline finish. The Coteaux Champenois Blanc has a deeper, more layered nose of fermentative notes, white fruit and mineral nuances. On the palate it is broad and round yet pure, carried by remarkable tension and a finely tannic close that lengthens its persistence. Production in a limited run of 300 bottles for the Champagne and 80 bottles for the Coteaux Champenois.
