L'Arbre 2021

The Champagne L’Arbre by Vincent Cuillier is an authentic and innovative expression of Meunier, made from estate-owned vines in the Les Voyets (lieu-dit) plot in Pouillon, in the Massif de Saint-Thierry. These vines are farmed with full respect for nature, according to a sustainable approach that completely excludes chemical fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides and synthetic pesticides, so as to encourage a natural balance between plant and soil. The distinctive feature of this cuvée is agroforestry, a practice that combines the cultivation of the vineyard with the presence of trees and shrubs, creating an ecosystem that favours biodiversity, improves the microbial activity of the soil, preserves its vitality and helps to honestly enhance the character of the terroir, in a successful balance between innovation and tradition.

This edition, Vintage 2021, is a Blanc de Noirs made exclusively from Meunier grapes, with vinification and fermentation in 500-litre barrels carried out solely with indigenous yeasts and a maturation that continues in the same barrels before bottling, which takes place without fining or filtration in keeping with an artisanal approach of deep respect for the raw material. After the tirage comes an ageing of at least 48 months on the lees, at the end of which the wine receives no final dosage, in Brut Nature style, so as to convey in its purest and most authentic form the identity of Meunier and of the terroir it comes from.

On tasting, L’Arbre 2021 proves genuine and vibrant, with a profile of great purity in which the fruity, generous character of Meunier blends with the complexity gained during the long ageing on the lees. On the palate the absence of dosage highlights a taut and honest balance, supported by a fine, layered structure that leads to a deep and persistent finish, in which the bond between the wine and the land it comes from clearly emerges.
