Maison Salon was born from the intuition of Eugène-Aimé Salon, a Parisian fur merchant with roots in Champagne, who was convinced that the Chardonnay of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger could, on its own, create a Champagne of extraordinary finesse, without any Pinot Noir or Meunier. Initially a wine reserved for friends, his Blanc de Blancs made its official debut with the 1921 vintage. After the founder's death in 1943, the Maison remained in the family until 1989, when it joined the Laurent-Perrier group alongside Delamotte.

The bond with Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs, is the very essence of the Maison. Today Salon shares its premises and cellars with Delamotte as Salon-Delamotte, and here it tends the renowned Jardin de Salon, a clos of about one hectare that is its historic parcel. Regarded as one of the most sought-after Champagnes in the world, Salon embodies a rigorous, uncompromising philosophy built on a single cru, a single grape variety and a single vintage.

Alongside the Chardonnay grapes of the Jardin, the Maison relies on around twenty growers in the village, whose vines are on average between 25 and 40 years old. Salon is produced only in vintages the Maison considers truly exceptional, roughly four per decade, and in other years the grapes go to Delamotte Champagnes. After a first fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages on its lees for at least ten years, a patient wait that heightens the chalky purity of Le Mesnil and invites you to discover one of the rarest expressions of Champagne.
