Champagne Jean-Marie Massonnot
Les Petites Boutures 2015
The Champagne Les Petites Boutures by Jean-Marie Massonnot is a heartfelt tribute to the terroir of Coulommes-la-Montagne, a Premier Cru village of the Montagne de Reims where winegrowing tradition is handed down with passion and artisanal precision. This cuvée tells the story of a land able to express both finesse and generosity, through a blend based mainly on Chardonnay grapes at 40%, alongside 30% Pinot Noir grapes and 30% Meunier, in a harmonious dialogue between elegance, structure and fruit.
This edition, Vintage 2015, expresses the ripeness and generosity of a warm and sunny year. Vinification and maturation see 20% of the Chardonnay aged in oak barrels, a choice that adds unmistakable aromatic complexity, while malolactic fermentation, carried out only partially, ensures a perfect balance between freshness and roundness. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for at least 8 years, gaining further depth and structure before dégorgement. The final dosage, below 6 g/l, in Brut style, discreetly supports the richness of the fruit without altering its purity.
On tasting, Les Petites Boutures 2015 surprises with an intriguing freshness that gracefully opens the way to more complex, mature nuances of tobacco, warm spices and delicate herbal infusions, while sweet notes of honey, almond and raisin add a touch of refined indulgence. On the palate it is broad and harmonious, supported by a solid structure and a still lively freshness that balances the richness brought by long ageing, elegantly revealing a background of ripe yellow fruit that shows the generous character of Meunier. The finish is long and persistent, consistent with its aromatic complexity and marked by pleasant toasted and spicy echoes.
