Rosé de Meuinier
The Champagne Rosé de Meunier by Laherte Frères is a refined and vibrant interpretation of Meunier, a grape that the Maison from Chavot-Courcourt, in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, brings out with particular sensitivity. The grapes come from old vines with an average age of 30 years, farmed with natural and environmentally respectful practices, which give the wine depth, character and freshness in a harmonious balance of fruit, complexity, vinosity and liveliness.
This edition, based on the 2023 harvest, is made exclusively from Meunier grapes and combines three different winemaking techniques. 30% is obtained by maceration to give colour and structure, 10% is vinified as red wine for greater aromatic intensity, and the remaining 60% is vinified as white wine, enriched by a 50% share of vin de réserve matured in barrique to ensure balance and richness. Vinification and fermentation take place in vats, foudres and barriques, with partial malolactic fermentation to preserve tension and freshness. After tirage, the wine ages on its lees for at least 24 months, while the final dosage of 2.5 g/l, in the Extra Brut style, enhances purity and essentiality.
On tasting, Rosé de Meunier shows a bright pink colour with coppery highlights and a bouquet that reveals notes of citrus and ripe red fruit such as cranberry, wild strawberry and redcurrant, accompanied by hints of mint and chalk that bring freshness and depth. On the palate it stands out for its elegance and complexity, with a precise balance between lively acidity and structured vinosity. The long, mineral and dynamic finish delivers an authentic and refined expression of Meunier.
