The Champagne Vinothèque by Guy Michel belongs to that rare family of cuvées able to tell the passing of time with a depth hard to find elsewhere, the result of a selection of the most significant harvests kept for a long time in the cellars of the Domaine from Moussy, at the gates of Épernay. The Vinothèque collection represents the family’s historical memory, a heritage of bottles produced in extremely limited quantities that convey the most authentic soul of artisanal viticulture and of a tradition bound for generations to the terroirs of the Vallée de la Marne.

This edition, Vintage 2005, from a warm and generous year, shows a slight prevalence of Meunier grapes at 36%, alongside 34% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay in a harmonious blend that combines roundness, power and elegance. What makes it special is over 18 years on the lees in the Domaine’s cellars, a long time that has developed a complex, layered aromatic texture together with a fine, creamy mousse. The recent dégorgement keeps its energy intact, while the final dosage, in Extra Brut style, respects the purity of the wine and reveals its balance with great precision.

On tasting, Vinothèque 2005 shows a bright golden colour crossed by a fine and persistent perlage, introducing a broad and mature bouquet where dried fruit, candied citrus, honey and spices intertwine within a frame of great elegance. On the palate it is full and vibrant, supported by a surprising freshness and a mineral vein that extends its tension, guiding a harmonious structure towards a long, deep finish.
