Champagne Famille Delouvin

Meunier Perpétuel 92/22

The Champagne Meunier Perpétuel by Famille Delouvin is a deep and identity-driven expression of Meunier, a grape here interpreted on its own and celebrated as an authentic voice of the terroir. It comes from the village of Vandières, along the Vallée de la Marne, where the estate's own vines reach down into a landscape that shapes the wine's character, delivering a vertical and sincere reading of this variety too often relegated to a supporting role, here instead the absolute protagonist of a production philosophy founded on patience and respect.

This 92/22 edition, born from the 2022 harvest, finds its true soul in the Réserve Perpétuelle begun in 1992 and kept in oak barrels, fed year after year with the latest harvest in a kind of solera that interweaves over three decades of vintages, lending complexity, coherence and a vertical reading of time. After tirage comes a maturation on the lees of at least thirty-six months, while the final dosage of 5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves its tension and expressive clarity.

On the palate, Meunier Perpétuel 92/22 opens with a broad and layered bouquet, where dried fruit, candied citrus and medicinal herbs intertwine with delicate notes of pastry, butter and a faintly smoky brushstroke. On the palate it reveals itself as broad and textured, run through by an intense minerality and a vibrant salinity, sustained by a creamy and deep weave. The balance plays on the contrast between richness and tension, while the persistence closes long and luminous, delivering a whole of rare precision that reflects the authentic soul of its terroir.

Famille Delouvin

The Domaine Famille Delouvin is located and extends over about 7 hectares in the village of Vandières, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Currently, after various oenological experiences around the world, the young and talented Geoffrey Delouvin - the eleventh generation - runs the family Domaine. Driven by the desire to combine tradition with renewal, he stylishly traces his ideas animated by this new generation of Vignerons.

The plots of land owned, mostly old vines, are nestled on the slopes with a south/south-east exposure, anchored on a mosaic of different soils: limestone-clay, chalk outcrops and sandy. Such diversity implies the complexity of their terroir. The dominant grape variety is Meunier, to which the family devotes a great deal of passion, although some plots on atypical terroirs allow them to also extract the quintessence of Chardonnay. In the vineyard, pragmatism is the rule.

As each plot is unique, it is very important to be able to rely on the sense of observation and experience passed down from 11 generations of vignerons in order to understand it. Thus, knowledge is passed on from father to son and the approach remains very simple: respect for life and the land, in order to obtain great Champagnes. In the vineyard, no herbicides, no deep ploughing, but shallow tilling and spontaneous natural grassing that reveals great biodiversity within their plots are used.

No insecticides, no chemical fertilisers but composted manure for at least 12 months to promote the microbiological life of the soil. In the cellar, all the processes follow very different paths: parcel selection of sapid Meunier and chalky Chardonnay aged on the lees in steel tanks, Lieux Dits harvested at high ripeness, spontaneous fermentation and maturation on the lees for 9 months in fût de chêne. Origin and identity are the key words for the production of Champagnes Famille Delouvin.
