The Champagne Les Traverses by Aurélien Lurquin comes to life in Romery, a village set on the Rive Droite of the Vallée de la Marne where the eponymous lieu-dit planted to Chardonnay stands apart in an area historically tied to Meunier, on soils of clay and chalky matrix able to give back tension, finesse and a marked sense of place. The guiding philosophy is that of a vigneron working by subtraction, with vines tended in detail and the will to let the terroir speak for itself without corrections.

This edition, 2022 harvest, is a Blanc de Blancs shaped by slow pressing in a traditional 2,000-kilogram press, with vinification and fermentation split between concrete tanks and fût de chêne, carried out with indigenous yeasts alone and free from any corrective intervention, followed by 11 months of maturation that refine its structure and complexity. After tirage, the wine ages on its lees for at least 24 months and is released with no final dosage, in the Brut Nature style, a choice that preserves its most authentic transparency.

On tasting, Les Traverses 2022 opens on fine and luminous citrus notes, with hints of fresh herbs and wild flowers woven together with a delicate touch of almond and a chalky nuance. On the palate the attack is taut and direct, supported by a mineral texture of great precision that guides an agile and vibrant development towards a crystalline, saline finish of long persistence, rare expressive purity and lively energy. Production in a limited run of 1,329 bottles.
