In 1965, Jean-Pierre and Jaqueline Legret, who had been vignerons for four generations, founded the Maison Jean-Pierre Legret in Talus-Saint-Prix. In 1986, after completing his studies in viticulture and oenology, Alain Legret became an active part of the family business, with his entry the company developed and began to create new Cuvées. In the years 2000 a further development materialized in the possibility to enlarge the cellar and buy a pneumatic press.
The handover to Alain took place in 2006, when he immediately embarked on a virtuous and sustainable agricultural path. The result is the current Maison Legret & Fils, in which his wife Sandrine and their children Raphael and Manuel take part together with Alain. The company philosophy follows the principles of natural and sustainable agriculture, inspired by the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture.
The vineyards are located in the southern part of the Côte de Sézanne and the Vallée du Petit Morin, five hectares in all covering 4 municipalities: Talus-Saint-Prix and Oyes, where the vineyards are located on clayey loamy soils enjoying full exposure at noon, Sézanne and Barbonne-Fayel, where the lighter soils with limestone matrix push the Chardonnay towards maximum expressiveness. With the same percentage of presence we find both Pinot Noir and Meunier, guaranteeing the possibility of expressing at best all the aromatic characteristics of its terroir.
