Champagne Jean Josselin
Contexture R.20
Champagne Contexture by Jean Josselin is the result of a blend of 50% Chardonnay from Lieu-dit "Comelle Navier" vineyards, 30% Pinot Noir from Lieu-dit "Haut de Viller" vineyards and 20% Meunier from Lieu-dit vineyards dit “Courbenne”, in Gyé-sur-Seine, in the Côte des Bar.
The vineyards, managed according to sustainable viticulture practices (Terra Vitis Certification), grow on clayey-limestone soils with subsoils characterized by limestone and marl from the Kimmeridgian (Upper Jurassic period) to which the characteristic savory and iodine notes, that are perceived in the wines of the area, are attributed.
Parcel vinification in steel of a single harvest, the 2020, this Champagne follows a refinement on its own yeasts for at least 18 months before the final dosage of 2.5 g/l (Extra Brut). Malolactic fermentation done, no clarification and filtration process.
Contexture Champagne, golden yellow in colour, is characterized by its fine and creamy foam; the nose releases mineral and spicy notes, as well as white flowers and red fruits. The palate is soft and round, while the evolution and finish are long, sustained and structured.

Champagne Jean Josselin
Winemakers for generations, the Josselin family purchased their first vineyard in 1854 on the land of Gyé-sur-Seine, a village in the Barséquanais, in the Côte des Bar. In 1957 Jean Josselin created his own brand and began producing Champagne: thus the Champagne Jean Josselin. Since 1980 the Domaine has been in the hands of Jean-Pierre, son of Jean Josselin, and since 2010 Jean-Félix Josselin, the latest generation, has also joined the family management. The vineyards are located on the lands of Gyé-sur-Seine, Neuville-sur-Seine and Essoyes and are cultivated in the three classic varieties with a prevalence of Pinot Noir compared to Meunier and Chardonnay. The vineyards are divided into 14 parcels which benefit from different exposures giving typicality, aromatic richness of the bunches and multiple expressions in the wines; while the terroir is predominantly clay-limestone and produces rich and elegant Champagnes. Respect for the land and care in the management of the vineyard are the basis of the work of the Domaine, furthermore, the proximity to paths, woods and valleys ensure the balance and development of the ecosystem and biodiversity. The parcel vinification is done in stainless steel tanks and allows the characteristics of each to be preserved, creating subsequent harmonious blends. The aging on the yeasts is at least 24 months.
