La Compagnie 2020

The Champagne La Compagnie by Emilien Allouchery is a refined and complex expression of the Petite Montagne de Reims. It brings together two Premier Cru villages, Écueil, a natural home for Pinot Noir, and Ville-Dommange, where the Chardonnay is grown. The vines grow on sandy-clay and silty-clay soils that give the wine minerality and elegance, and the cuvée expresses the character of this corner of Champagne with authenticity.

This edition, Vintage 2020, combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes in equal parts. Vinification and fermentation take place 80% in oak barrels and 20% in stoneware amphorae, followed by 10 months of maturation without malolactic fermentation, fining or filtration. After tirage it ages for more than three years on its lees, while the final dosage of 2 g/l, in Extra Brut style, brings out the freshness, tension and purity of the fruit.

On tasting, La Compagnie 2020 impresses with its depth and complexity and a perfect balance between structure and finesse. On the nose, toasty and spicy notes mingle with lively aromas of fresh fruit and ripe citrus. On the palate it is taut, elegant and well defined, with a precise texture and fine energy that carry a long mineral and saline persistence to a clear finish of great character and refinement. Total production amounts to 2,749 bottles.
