Bulles de Comptoir Face B "s'interdire de s'interdir"
The Champagne Bulles de Comptoir by Charles Dufour tells the free and sincere vision of a vigneron who chose the path of organic farming from the very beginning, leaving every conventional shortcut behind to give voice to his own vineyards in Landreville, in the Côte des Bars. In this land of Kimmeridgian clay and limestone, where Champagne looks towards Burgundy, each cuvée takes shape from the desire to express the character of place and year with authenticity, free of any artifice.
This edition, Face B "S'interdire de s'interdire", the fruit of the generous 2023 harvest, is a Blanc de Blancs born from a selection of Chardonnay grapes set aside to create a special cuvée, drawing on the lots destined for the Avalon, Chevêtrée and Corroy cuvées. Vinification and maturation take place on the lees for twelve months across new oak, stainless steel and concrete egg, bringing together breadth, tension and a multifaceted texture, while after tirage comes ageing on the lees for at least eighteen months, with no final dosage, in Brut Nature style.
On tasting, Bulles de Comptoir Face B reveals the full experimental spirit of the project with a bright, taut profile, in which the purity and finesse of Chardonnay meet the depth and roundness brought by extended lees contact and the variety of vessels. On the palate it unfolds with energy and precision, supported by vibrant acidity and a fine, silky perlage that carry a sleek, well-balanced structure towards a savoury, clean finish of long persistence.
